Travel Finds: Custom Otopet
Some custom styles have still not trended on social media and are more likely to be found in their country of origin. Just like when I found the - for me - unknown popular South Asian racer, I found this unique Otopet on the streets of Bali.
I got the owner’s Instagram (xxhaa00) and asked him to tell me a bit about the bike:
”It is a 2004 Kymco Easy 100cc engine, using a Honda Vario 125 carburetor.
I call it a BANDIT.
Apart from being the center of attention, it is definitely a comfortable bike for me. I enjoy that handlebar position and my feet rest on the platform nicely. Under the handlebars there is a basket, in that basket I put food or drinks when I’m riding.
Some people have offered me money for the BANDIT, but I am turning them down. I have had it for 2 years and we share a lot of memories together.”
This style reminds me of a classic chopper, an iconic style in the bike custom culture. Stripped down, minimalistic and bold. Whenever someone customises their Harley Davidson or a Kymco scooter, it is all about taking what you got and making it into something you digg. Something that stands out and something you really enjoy riding.
If you like the Otopet concept, check out Enggal Modified. They seem to have made several great examples, in addition to other great customs.
